Description

This engaging Fraction Snail Flip Book Activity helps children understand fractions through an interactive, hands-on craft. Children will cut out the fraction circles, stack them in order, and glue them together along one edge to create a flip book. The completed flip book is then attached to the snail’s shell, allowing children to turn each page like a book and explore different fractions from Whole to One-Eighth.

Materials Needed

  • Printed worksheet pages
  • Child-safe scissors
  • Glue stick

Preparation

  1. Download and print all the worksheet pages.
  2. Carefully cut out each fraction circle along the outer dashed cutting line.
  3. Arrange the circles in this order: Fractions (Cover), Whole (1), Halves (1/2), Thirds (1/3), Quarters (1/4), Fifths (1/5), Sixths (1/6), Sevenths (1/7), and Eighths (1/8).
  4. Stack all the circles neatly with the cover circle on top.
  5. Apply glue only along the left edge of each circle and stick them together one above another to create a flip book. Do not apply glue to the entire circle so the pages can flip easily.
  6. Glue the back of the completed flip book onto the snail’s shell, making sure the pages can turn freely like a book.

How to Play

  1. Open the cover page and flip through the fraction circles one by one.
  2. Read each fraction aloud and count the equal parts shown on the circle.
  3. Compare each page to see how the whole is divided into different numbers of equal parts.
  4. Continue flipping through the pages from Whole (1) to One-Eighth (1/8) to understand how fractions change as the number of equal parts increases.
